Hand block printing is a technique that involves carving a desired pattern on wood, coating it with dye and then stamping it on fabric.

It is the simplest but slowest process of textile printing. Many traditional methods of fabric weaving, dyeing and even printing are perfect examples of sustainable practices.

Not only does this beautiful textile art respect the planet and nature, but it celebrates it as well…

I have spent the past 30+ years working with wonderful partners all around the globe to develop and produce women’s clothing for major retailers. I fell in love with India the moment I landed in Delhi in 2003 and over the years I have cultivated many beautiful friendships. Last year, I decided to leave my corporate role and pivot to a life that was dedicated to letting the days unfold and creating a collection of the things that I love with my partners in India - This is JIYA. JIYA stands for Spirit, Heart and Soul - it’s what matters most to me.

“The collection is rooted in the traditional technique of block print. Whenever possible I find fabrics that are left over in the local markets and I re-use them in a creative way. The collections are limited in quantity as I only produce what I can based on the existing fabrics available.
